IWA organizes a wide range of events that serve to unite expat women and introduce them to local culture. Our activities also have a fundraising purpose. The funds we raise go back into the community to help those in need.
The “Coffee Morning” is the hallmark gathering of the IWA that takes place on the second Tuesday of each month. The coffee morning themes vary, but they are often a reflection of the rich cultural and religious heritage that is part of the fabric of Malaysian society, such as the Chinese Lunar New Year, Hari Raya and Depavali.
In addition to Coffee Mornings, the IWA hosts a large variety of social events and workshops that serve as both fun activities and fundraisers. Some examples are Chinese water color painting, flower arranging, fruit carving, ballroom dance, excursions to Malaysia and Singapore, origami class and cooking classes.
Cooking classes have become an extremely popular social activity for the IWA. They are taught by the members themselves, and they afford the ladies a unique opportunity to experience cuisines from around the world. Our 2014 recipe book paid homage to 24 different countries including Kazakstan, Italy, Hungary, South -Africa, Mexico, Peru and Japan, to name a few!
We strive to give the members an interesting and meaningful social outlet, where they can connect with one another. The IWA fundraising and charitable efforts give us the opportunity to connect with the community and make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
